When you think about what a beautiful holiday home should be like. A real holiday paradise. What are the first things that come to your mind? Is it a destination that is perhaps a little off the beaten track of a usual holiday? Do you think of holiday accommodation with incredibly cosy beds and high-quality bed linen? Are you thinking of the independence of a holiday home, spontaneous excursions through winding alleyways that you haven't yet discovered? Or maybe even your own holiday home - in the centre of a paradisiacal place where palm trees grow? If you are imagining all of this, we have really good news. Because our holiday home in Marrakech has these qualities.
Holidays in Marrakech - fireworks for the senses
When we visited Marrakech for the first time, the city really left us speechless. We had already heard a lot about the city. Of the countless exotic spices. Of the air, which is often lightly clothed with the scent of incense sticks. Of the intense, colourful hustle and bustle of the many street vendors in the markets. But we had no idea how intense and impressive a holiday in Marrakech would really be.
Limousine service at Marrakech airport
When we really immersed ourselves in the old town, we were overwhelmed by the incredible beauty of the city. Not only were we prepared for the heat, but fortunately so was our driver, who took us from the airport to our riad. A limousine service at Marrakech airport. With cold drinks. And on top of that, the driver is an absolute insider who can show us places in every restaurant in Marrakech and all the chic bars in Marrakech. What more could you want?
Small alleyways, bazaars and scents
One of our first tours took us through the winding alleyways of Marrakech, some of which are so narrow that you can't even drive through them in a car. And through the many colourful bazaars filled with souvenirs and jewellery, leather goods, spices and textiles. What an incredibly exciting labyrinth of thousands of stories, unfamiliar faces and smells.
Haggling is a sport in Marrakech
We quickly learnt what is very, very important in Marrakech: trading! A little tip from us to you: If you are interested in something in Marrakech that you might want to buy, for example souvenirs, then you have to haggle in Marrakech. Anything else is considered an affront by the traders.
Bargaining is something of a sport in Marrakech. Professionals know that the first offer is always priced too high. As soon as you hear the first price, you should question the quality of the product with the seller and say that it is worth a quarter of the price at most. But don't worry: bargaining really is a game in Marrakesh. You will see that the trader will often put the goods back with a little wave and almost seem a little offended. But that's also part of the game. Because this is the moment when you go a few steps further. Once you have sounded out the right price range, the retailer will meet you and offer a different price. And so on. At some point, the price will stabilise and, ideally, everyone will be happy. What you should not do, however, is negotiate the offer first and then go to another dealer. That can get you into trouble.
What is a must-see in Marrakech?
Marrakech is a city where you can really spend hours strolling through the streets. It's simply impossible to get enough here. You should definitely have a look at all the little shops. The many colours and patterns of the numerous markets can really enchant your holiday. There are lots of handicrafts to buy - and clothes too. It feels like a completely different world. A world in which life is much more genuine, real, loud and colourful.
Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech - deep blue walls and breathtaking contrasts
But Marrakech is not just a city of bazaars, it is also a city of beautiful gardens. There are so many palm and olive trees. So many beautiful flowers and orange trees. An absolute fairytale land is the Jardin Majorelle, a botanical garden with deep blue walls, which in combination with the rich colours of the vegetation creates a breathtaking contrast. The many flowers and small details are really incredibly impressive.
Garden was owned by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé
Founded by the French artist Jacques Majorelle in 1924, the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech covers an area of around two hectares and is particularly well known for its exotic plants and Art Deco architectural features. The garden was long owned by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, who worked to preserve and renovate the garden. Today, the Jardin Majorelle is an absolute favourite tourist destination - and an oasis of peace and relaxation in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. But there are not only bright colours and patterns to see, but also fountains and ceramics as well as exotic vegetation, including many rare and endangered species.
Why Marrakech is so incredibly impressive
Marrakech has a lot more to offer than "just" the old town and the gardens. The city is also surrounded by the majestic Atlas Mountains. There are also many excursion destinations in the surrounding area, such as the beautiful valley of Ourika or the incredible village of Ait Ben Haddou. It is also a breathtaking excursion to spend the night with the nomads in the desert - and not to forget: Marrakech is of course also known for its culinary specialities such as Tajine and Couscous, which we tried in the many wonderful restaurants and cafés. There is even often live music. But there is so much more to experience in Marrakech.
Moroccan mint tea - an art in itself
When on holiday in Marrakech, you sometimes stumble across things that might seem completely ordinary - but which become a sensory feast there. For example, a Moroccan mint tea, which is made from several different types of mint and sage and then poured into a small glass from a certain height. This is supposed to cool it down a little. And it tastes incredible.
You have to feel Marrakech
You probably just have to feel Marrakech. The city is an unforgettable and energising experience that we can warmly recommend to everyone. Marrakech has a lot to offer to people who want to embark on a journey to another world. It opens up all the senses for a fantastic experience. Marrakech has shown us that there are places in this world that are so different in their own way that you really have to see them.

This is useful for bigger groups travelling together and wanting to spend time together.
Holiday home or hotel in Marrakech?
A holiday home in Marrakech is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to have an authentic experience in the city. Compared to a hotel, a holiday home offers much more freedom and privacy, as you don't have to stick to the conditions and restrictions of a hotel.
What's more, in a holiday home you can live like a local and feel at home while enjoying the comfort and amenities you are used to at home.
Rent a Riad in Marrakech
Many holiday homes in Marrakech are traditional Riads, which are located in the centre of the old town and offer an insight into local life. A Riad in Marrakech usually has an open roof, which is covered with white cloths in summer to provide some shade. In the evening, the cloths can be removed so that you can sit directly under the stars and still be shielded from the outside world. The terraces, patios and courtyards of Riads in Marrakech are often decorated with plants and trees and are intended to offer an oasis of calm in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city. They fulfil this promise. In addition, they are often decorated with traditional elements such as mosaics, decorative arches and cedar wood.

The best time to visit Marrakech is during the spring and autumn months. For example, from mid-February to June and from September to November. But Marrakech is also a great place to visit in summer. During this time, the temperatures are hot, but it rains less than in the winter months.
What is the weather like in Marrakech?
The weather in Marrakech can vary greatly depending on where you are in the city. Jemaa el Fna can be very hot at lunchtime.
